By Pax
Jan. 30, 2011

This year’s Brigid Poetry Festival is already in full swing!  Event caretaker and host Anne Hill posted on January 25th to her Blog o’ Gnosis:

“It is that time of year again, when bloggers around the world post a favorite poem in honor of Brigid, the Irish goddess and patron saint of smithcraft, poetry, and healing. Brigid’s feast day is February 1st, so between now and then is the perfect time to publish a poem to celebrate.”

The annual event, variously known as the Imbolc Poetry Blogging, the Brigid Poetry Festival, the Imbolc Silent Online Poetry Reading is becoming a widely cherished part of the world-wide online Pagan community.  Participants, this reporter included, have been known to extend over at least a few days as inspiration strikes.  This event is open to any and all people interested in sharing some poetry in Honor of Brigid and Imbolc.

Ms. Hill graciously agreed to answer a few questions about the poetry festival.

The Pagan Queen (2009) is a rare film. There aren’t many movies about paganism during the early medieval period and even less that treat the middle ages in general without Tolkien magic and glamour. In The Pagan Queen, director Constantin Werner gives us a beautiful and realistic look at early medieval paganism in his story about the legendary Slavic queen Libuse.
