MIAMI–Across the Paganverse, we find many among our faith who hold sci-fi, comic books, action heros and video games near and dear to their hearts. Trending blogs such as Pagan SciFi are now exploring the links between being a Neopagan and being a Trekkie. Florida PNC was on site Saturday at the MACC DoubleTree Hilton in Miami to cover the juggernaut 2012 Florida Supercon conference, which runs from June 29 through July 2.

The headliners this year included Alexandra Elizabeth “Alex” Kingston, best known for her starring roles as Dr. River Song in (the new) Doctor Who and as Dr. Elizabeth Corday in the NBC medical drama ER. Other stars included actors from Battlestar Galactica, The Hunger Games, and the WWF, as well as talented voice artists from anime, cartoons, and video games.

Scores of vendors filled the exhibition hall featuring old school video games, rare and new collectibles, t-shirts, cosplay items and movie and television show memorabilia.

The only downside to this amazing event was the parking backlog. Some attendees had to simmer in an hour-long traffic jam near the hotel.

Notable was the presence of Steampunk vendors and costumes and a large gathering of folks from the South Florida chapter of Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
